| ARTISTSTATEMENT In my work, I aim to explore the essence of and decay of memory as time moves forward. I am fascinated by storytelling and am inspired by the way memory undulates within us. It may guide us, comforts us, or haunt us as we surge forward in our own existence. The blur of reality in the veil of fantasy, storytelling, and cognitive memory, is of great interest to me. The dichotomy of the “seen vs. the unseen” continues to play an important role the development of my work. Further, I am intrigued by forgotten landscapes and the debris left behind by living. In summary, it is the uncertainty of things, the enigmatic and completely tragic quality of all things ephemeral that captivates me and keeps me asking questions. I hope to understand through mark, line, and erasure, how the stories and memories shared by my own family continue to shape me as a person today. |
